Hurricane Erin
Hurricane Erin killed several
people
people
Remember Hurricane Erin?! Yeah, her! She killed 14 people! Erin killed 12 people in Cape Verde and 2 U.S. citizens.
While Erin was down in Cape Verde and still in her tropical storm phase, she spent her time dropping oceans of rain on top of folks. All of the rain she drop led to water quickly building up and then flooding out everything and one in sight. The floods were so bad that 12 people ended up dead and five people ended up missing.
After doing wrong down in the islands, Erin moved on up north, off the East coast of the United States to continue her sinful ways. Erin gathered enough strength to become a hurricane, again! She became a Cat 2 and then moved on down to a Cat 1.
It was during her Cat 1 phase that Erin did her killing. And she did her killing without ever once putting a pinky toe on U.S.’ land. Now, don’t be mad at ol’ girl! She stayed out in the Atlantic. Never once did she touch U.S.’ land. Erin just hung out in the Atlantic where she blew powerful winds that whipped up high waves that produce dangerous rip currents! Therefore, anything or one touched by Erin was either near the water or in the water.
The sea turtle nests that were washed away on Emerald Isle in North Carolina, and the beach houses in Rodanthe, North Carolina that were barely standing on one leg were near the water. The three people who went out into the Atlantic Ocean were in the water. Unfortunately for them, it did not end well.
A 59-year-old man named Ishmoile Mohammed drowned while swimming off the coast of New York. A rip current swept a 17-year-old teenage boy, who was swimming off the coast of New Hampshire, out to sea. And a third person, who was out boating in Massachusetts, has yet to be found.
The moral of the story is a hurricane is a hurricane. It doesn’t matter its category. It just matters that it is. Therefore, stay away from hurricanes because whether the hurricane is on land or at sea, it will kill anyone who gets in its way.
Oh yeah, another thing, Hurricanes Humberto and Tropical Storm Imelda are out in the Atlantic. And like Erin, they are not to be messed with!
Stay away from those hurricanes and tropical storms, now!
